Gift of the Givers

The Gift of the Givers Foundation is the largest disaster response, non-governmental organisation of African origin on the African continent.” – Gift of the Givers foundation

 

The Mattress Warehouse partnered with Gift of the Givers in assisting flood-stricken areas after heavy rain in KZN in January 2019. 18 Beds were donated to families who were affected most by the floods.

The Mattress Warehouse is dedicated to not only make a difference in your sleep quality, but also in the lives of others. Over the years, we have dedicated our resources to support those in need.

Upper Highway Baby home

Upper Highway Baby Home, located in Summerveld, Durban, provides both temporary safe care and foster care for abandoned and vulnerable babies. From this home, babies are taken care of physically, as well as being taught how to function in a family environment. 

 

The Mattress Warehouse assisted the Upper Highway Baby home in July of 2019 by donating bunk beds and foam mattresses to provide sleeping space for toddlers in the home. Read more about Upper Highway Baby home here.

Emily Zwane

In June of 2019, Emily Zwane appeared on Jacaranda FM’s Good Morning Angels. Emily was diagnosed with Osteogenesis Imperfecta (brittle bone disease) at a mere 18 months of age. She has had 55 bone fractures due to this illness. Later in life, she was also diagnosed with osteoporosis.

 

After hearing her touching story on the radio, The Mattress Warehouse donated a (Serta Bed) to assist Emily in sleeping as comfortably as possible for years to come. Read more about Emily’s story here.

Savanna Lodge: The Savanna Trust

“The overall goal of the Savanna Trust is to help build more resilient communities, which empower vulnerable individuals, especially young and elderly people, to meet their basic needs and secure a better future for them.” – The Savanna Trust

 

The Savanna Trust, a branch of the Savanna Lodge in Sabi Sands transformed the lives of many families in that area by building them homes. However, one of these families were still sleeping on the floor since they didn’t have beds. This is where The Mattress warehouse stepped in to donate beds for this family to sleep on.

Offlimit Communications

In March 2019, Offlimit Communications facilitated the breaking of the Guinness World Record for the most people eating breakfast in bed at the same time. The Mattress Warehouse assisted Offlimit communications with the beds and mattresses to make the bed side of this event possible. In the end, 400 beds were used to host a record-breaking 574 people eating breakfast in bed. Find out more about this event by clicking here. After the event, these beds were donated to various children’s homes in and around Gauteng.

White River Seventh-day Adventist church

The Seventh-day Adventist church in White River takes care of children from local pre-primary schools during the week. There, they provide aftercare and food for these children. In an effort to lighten the load for this centre, The Mattress Warehouse donated 17 mattresses to use for nap time during the day.

Child Welfare SA

“CWSA (Child Welfare South Africa) is an umbrella body representing 164 child welfare affiliates, 30 developing organisations, 25 outreach projects and 206 communities.” – Child Welfare SA

 

Child welfare SA hosted their annual Amazing Race on the 1st of June 2019. The Mattress Warehouse participated in this fundraiser and donated a further R50 000 for the purchasing of winter blankets for Child Welfare Nelspruit.
